Going electric on holiday: 5 tips for charging in Provence

Date

In this blog we take you on a journey to the enchanting south of France, where the sun shines, the villages charm and electric cars are the new heroes of the road.

Discover smart ways to charge your electric vehicle while you explore local gems, and enjoy the unique experiences that sustainable travel has to offer.

Charging your electric car on holiday is easier than you think. Even if your holiday home does not have its own charging point, there are handy solutions to charge your car with no hassle.

1. Check the charging options at your holiday home

Before you set off, it is useful to know what charging options your holiday home offers. Some homes already have charging points, while at others you may be able to use an ordinary socket. Most holiday homes are also conveniently located near public charging points.

2. Charge smartly while shopping before you arrive

Get your holiday off to a flying start by doing your shopping on the way and charging your electric car at the same time. Look out for supermarkets such as Lidl, Carrefour and Leclerc that offer rapid chargers. While you shop, your car charges quickly, so when you arrive at your holiday home you can enjoy a well-stocked fridge straight away, and a charged car for your next outing.

3. Dine and charge: choose restaurants in villages with charging points

When you are looking for a cosy little restaurant, chances are it will be in a picturesque village. The good news is that many of these lovely spots already have charging points. That means you can charge your car while enjoying a tasty dinner.

4. Combine charging with local markets

Combine charging your electric car with a visit to local markets, such as the lively market in Carpentras or the atmospheric antiques market in L'Isle-sur-la-Sorgue. Many of these picturesque villages offer charging points, so you can soak up the local atmosphere and enjoy the local treats.

5. Explore actively while you charge

Charging your car does not have to mean standing still. Explore the area on foot or by bike while you wait. It is a fantastic way to find hidden gems and add some exercise to your day.
