The Carpentras canal
The Canal de Carpentras is a historic irrigation canal in the Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur region of France. It was originally built in the 19th century to supply water to farmland in the area. The canal winds through the landscape, delivering water to countless farms and fields. What makes it unique is the way it was built, with impressive aqueducts and bridges carrying it over valleys and rivers.
The paths running alongside the canal are excellent for cycling. Riders can enjoy scenic routes along the water and through the beautiful Provençal countryside. It is a relaxing way to explore the area with the family. Along the canal you will often find picnic and rest areas, which makes it an appealing destination for a day out.

The L'Isle-sur-la-Sorgue cycle route
This easy, almost flat route starts in the charming village of L'Isle-sur-la-Sorgue, known for its canals, bridges, antiques and flea markets. From L'Isle-sur-la-Sorgue you follow D roads (departmental roads) as you explore the beautiful surroundings. The route takes you to Fontaine-de-Vaucluse, a picturesque little village and home to the source of the Sorgue. It is a must-see for its crystal-clear spring and lovely scenery.
Along the way you also pass Saumane-de-Vaucluse, a charming village with a Romanesque church and a rich history. It is a lovely place to explore and take a break. The route is a relaxed way to discover some of the most beautiful spots along the Sorgue, including picturesque villages, historic sights and the natural beauty of the area.
