Apt is seen as the capital of the Luberon in the Vaucluse and is known for its candied fruit and a big Saturday market. A lively town with a historic centre among the hills.
Apt is one of the oldest towns in the Luberon. In Roman times it was known as Apta Julia and was an important stop on the trade route between Italy and Spain.
Today you can still feel that history in the centre, with its narrow streets, squares and old town walls.
