Holiday homes in Valréas

Valréas is the capital of the Enclave des Papes, a Vaucluse enclave surrounded by the Drôme. A historic centre with the Tour Ripert, Notre-Dame-de-Nazareth and the Hôtel de Simiane: a warm base between Nyons, Orange and Grignan, with vineyards and lavender.

More about Valréas

Valréas is part of what is known as "L'Enclave des Papes": a piece of the Vaucluse that is completely surrounded by the Drôme. Geographically it feels as if you are in the Drôme, but administratively and historically Valréas belongs to the Vaucluse (84).

Valréas's unusual location

In the 14th century the Popes of Avignon bought several villages (Valréas, Visan, Grillon and Richerenches). As a result, those villages remained part of the Papal States for centuries. When the départements were created, they stayed with the Vaucluse, despite lying among Drôme villages.
