Holiday homes in Bédoin

Bédoin lies at the southern foot of Mont Ventoux in the Vaucluse and is one of the three classic starting points for the climb. A lively Provençal village with a market, terraces and cyclists from all over the world.

More about Bédoin

At the foot of Mont Ventoux lies the lively village of Bédoin. It is also one of the three starting points for climbing the famous mountain. The village is popular with cycling tourists from all over the world and known for its stages in the Tour de France. In summer the population rises from 3,000 to 12,000.

Even before you reach the village, you can see the Baroque church of Saint-Pierre towering in the distance, with the town spread across the slopes of the Saint-Antonin hill.

Archaeological excavations have shown that the village already existed in the days of the Roman Empire. This gives Bédoin deep historic significance. The old wall on the hill in the centre of the village is tangible evidence of this rich history. The idea that the name "Bédoin" can be translated as "fortified hill" fits well with the presence of this Roman stronghold.

Besides the church, which you can reach on foot from the main street (Avenue Barral des Baux) through the little lanes, the Colline St-Antonin offers a wonderful view over the village and the surroundings.

‍

Bédoin also lies in the heart of the AOC Ventoux. Ventoux (formerly Côtes du Ventoux) is the most easterly appellation of the southern Rhône, named after Mont Ventoux. With a landscape full of vineyards, a Mediterranean climate and the legendary mountain as a backdrop, the many wine tastings are well worth a visit.

Natural oases await you nearby:
